Reviews from Amazon:

Mockingjay isn't a portrait of a war in the traditional sense; we only have one narrator so it's still just Katniss's story, even as much as she spins in and out of the centre of what's happening.

Her position the whole way through the trilogy has been lacking information; not understanding the situation and reacting the best way she knew how - Peeta has been the one deliberately controlling situations and trying to keep her safe that way.

While he's absent for much of Mockingjay, she has to take responsibility for her actions in the bigger picture without his back-up for the first time , she doesn't always do the sensible thing.

But she still had my sympathy the entire way through. It's not perfect there are a hell of a lot of characters introduced just to be killed off, to the point where I can't even remember who just died where (and there are obviously a huge amount of deaths involved).

But it's an absorbing, immersing book. I think it captures perfectly the strained claustrophobia of living underground and surviving the kind of war/rebellion being waged.
----------
Blimey, I feel I'm trespassing on some kind of O level lit exam here. Thing of vision, imagination, vivid energy, vitality, originality, fun. Haven't read a trilogy with so much hunger and desire for ages. It may have its faults but not half as many as those who have pretensions here.
