With a bibliography of books that are part of my own herbal library and feature on my recommended reading list, its obvious that this book is written by someone who knows and uses her herbs, and not only that, wants to ensure that others acquire the same herbal enthusiasm that she exudes and use the knowledge she freely puts out into the world to improve and boost their own health naturally from their own kitchens.
Anke draws on childhood teachings of traditional Germanic herb lore from her paternal grandmother, which she has embraced, built on and shared with others for many years. Anke uses herbs to treat her family and friends from the sanctity of her own herbal kitchen, you can feel the love for all things herbal in every page. This book would make an ideal starter for a new kitchen herbalist and for those of us that have been doing it a while. Packed with herbal information, it would make a useful fingertip guide when you need a quick simple remedy for most of the everyday things that ail us.
I must add that my positive review of this book for those who buy a copy has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Anke did me the honour of citing me as one of the people she wanted to thank for their support and contributions, it's because its a useful book, full of useful tips and practical herbal information that I believe we should all have knowledge of!
The wonderful thing about the on line herbal community that Anke and I are a part of is the way we have all come together like a global herbal family, sharing our knowledge, recipes and love of herbs, we grow just like the herbs we nurture and we learn from each other, which is what you'll get from this book!
