I enjoyed Matt Dunn's previous books so it wasn't a major decision to buy A Day at the Office. Unlike his previous books, this one had the female points of view as well as the men's. The entire book takes place over a single day. There's Mark who is in love with Julie. But Julie has her own reasons for not wanting to encourage him. Then there's Sophie, who is in love with Nathan (non-geeky IT dude who rides a moped), but Nathan doesn't do Valentine's day. And lastly, there's Callum, who's a bit loser-y, but really sweet.
There are a few mix ups and various people running around getting muddled up. It takes a while for the characters to come to life properly (actually, scratch that. The male characters were realistic from the start, the female voices took a scene or two to come into their own). Somewhere around chapter 3 I actually laughed out loud. From then on, I was hooked.
As with all his books, A Day at the Office is fast and fun. The repeated puns in the dialogue got a bit annoying but only mildly so(what am I saying? I love puns? Must get more dried frog pills).
